Arkin Akbay's parents are both former Galatasaray athletes. His father was Galatasaray's goalkeeper 10 years ago, and his mother was a member of Galatasaray's women's volleyball team just five years ago. Arkin, born in Istanbul on October 19, 1973, is a graduate of Bogazici University's Department Of Mechanical Engineering. Arkin worked in the Thermal Operation Services section of SIMKO, A.G, a subsidiary of Siemens Corporation in Turkiye. He has since transferred to Siemens's Karlsruhe branch in Germany. Arkin has a clear goal of organizing Galatasaray fans at the grass-roots level and dedicates all of his free time to this worthy cause.

Arkin Akbay has the "inside scoop" on the Galatasaray Club. He informs our community about any important happenings and decisions made by the club. He also helps us out with the Quiz section.

Cengiz Akgun was born May 14, 1956 in Istanbul. Cengiz received a B.S degree in Electrical Engineering from the Istanbul Technical University in 1997 and later received a Ph.D. from the Polytechnic Institute of New York in 1983, again in the same field. He is currently employed as a systems engineer at the Belcore Company.   Dr. Akgun lives in the New York/New Jersey area with his wife.

Our prominent columnist loves his Galatasaray in a way that makes sense. He is an expert on the outcome of derby games, especially Fenerbahce games :-)

Oray Egin, a native of Istanbul, is currently studying International Relations and Political Science in Istanbul.  His career in journalism started at Esquire magazine.

Later, he became a producer of 32. Gun, a widely respected news program on Turkish television. He also produced a documentary on Galatasaray's 1996-97 championship season.  We can still read Oray's columns which are published in monthly Turkish magazines.  His writings focus mainly on important topics such as soccer sociology and sports psychology.  He would like to publish them in a book eventually.

Oray Egin is our first columnist. He's working on our 'Interviews' section too. A busy man who is generous enough to give some of his time to write good articles.

Mahmut Deger was born on August 27, 1955 in Bornova, precinct of Izmir. A graduate of Galatasaray Lycee in 1974, Mr. Deger continued his education in Paris at the Sorbonne. He studied macro economics and received his degree in international relations in 1980. During his Ph.D. studies, he contributed various columns to a number of newspapers.

Upon completing his academic studies, Mr. Deger became a freelance writer and was known as Marc Deger. He later studied TV news education. In 1984, he married Catherine Gandoin, a fellow journalist. The couple have two children, Ekim (1985) and Lara (1989).

In 1987, Mr. Deger started working in one of the highest circulating finance newspapers in France, La Tribune. Marc Deger now is a head of the European Union desk at this newspaper.

Mr. Deger's soccer activity started back in the Galatasaray Lycee where he played right wing on the school's soccer team. Later he brought his soccer skills to Paris and got his licences from the local amateur club, ESD Montreuil. He is now serving as a member of the Board of Directors of this Club.

Korhan Demirkaya was born in Istanbul on September 3, 1977. He is a graduate of the Saint Benoit French High School, and he is now studying engineering at the Istanbul Technical University's Faculty of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering.

Korhan is a devoted Galatasaray fan. His favorite Galatasaray footballers are Hakan Sukur, Okan and Hagi. Korhan is also a computer enthusiast and an active contributor to the cimbom.org mailing list and provides timely and incisive commentary about our favorite team. Korhan is also a devoted rock & metal fan.

Galatasaray fans know him as one with a great heart and a generous spirit. Korhan is indeed a great friend to all of us.

Murat Gokcigdem was born on March 16, 1963 in Palo Alto, California. Murat went on to graduate from West Virginia University in 1990. Murat is a congressional aide to a U.S. Congressman. His legislative assignments include international law and trade, intellectual property law and domestic and international monetary policy. He resides in Washington, D.C. with his wife.

A dedicated Galatasaray supporter, he is knowledgeable in English and has encouraged us to keep this site mainly in English. Murat's Investigations have enriched the contents, and we have been able to go ahead with new services in English. Murat is doing a great job with the Live Coverage page and has been a consistently reliable reporter. Lately he's been maintaining our Newsletter section, dedicated to English speaking Galatasaray supporters.

Murat Tanyeri Murat Tanyeri was born on January 8, 1972 in Izmir. After graduating from Istanbul American Robert College in 90, he attended Rochester Institute of Technology. He graduated with a double major in Finance & Economics in 94. At the end of 95, he received his Masters degree in Finance from the same university. Murat has worked for the Xerox Corporation in New York as a Financial Analyst between Oct.95 and Oct.98. At the end of 98, after moving back to Istanbul, Murat worked for Eczacibasi Holding where he was responsible for implementing the SAP-CO module into the local environment, one of the first Finance oriented SAP projects in Turkey. Murat joined Superonline in January 2000. He worked at the Business Development department in a variety of projects before joining IncubaTR as Finance & Operations Partner. He is single and resides in Istanbul.

Murat is working on Live Coverage and Dispatches section. He's one of the oldest surfer in our community.

Hasan Tezcan was born on August 11, 1968 in Stockholm, Sweden. He went on to graduate from Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm with a M Sc degree in Mathematics & Computer science. He's single and resides in Stockholm.

Hasan is the owner and the founder of this site/domain. Deals with technical issues.

Mert Tokman was born on November 23, 1970 on the beautiful Mediterranean shore of Mersin, Turkey. He attended Kadikoy Anadolu High School, Istanbul University and the University of Arkansas respectively. He played waterpolo for 7 years ('83-'90) for the junior and senior teams of our beloved Galatasaray. Currently, he holds a Masters degree in Marketing and is working for the Energy Corporation as a Marketing Research Analyst. He is married and residing in the one of a kind city of Little Rock, Arkansas.

Bahri Unlu was born in Istanbul on August 20, 1970. Bahri has a business degree from Istanbul University. Although he is a professional license broker, he is currently a sales executive, handling textile products for a large company in Turkiye.

Bahri is our most reliable news source. You can read his time sensitive reports on our Dispatches page. This site relies on first hand information and that is exactly what Bahri is doing for us. Because of his tremendous personal efforts we have opened a Live Online Forum page where we will interview club officials and players from time to time.

Bahri's hard working, dedicated, generous efforts are an inspiration to all of us. For that we are privileged to have Bahri as our friend. That's Bahri in the center and Galatasaray players from the past and present, Ugur to the left and Arif to the right.

His younger brother Yusuf Unlu, also a dedicated Galatasaray supporter, helps out with our Live Coverage page.  Thanks to his efforts, cimbom.org provides to its viewers timely and accurate commentary and visual imagery.

Edip Uras, a supporter of Galatasaray's cross-town rival Fenerbahce. Edip Uras was born in Istanbul in 1967. His grandfather was Esat Kaner, a famous Fenerbahce soccer player who was also known by his nickname Bucur (The Midget) Esat. When he was a teenager he hung around Fenerbahce's training facilities and was fascinated with the forklifts working nearby. But he later fell in love with soccer and spent time with coach Didi and his beloved Fenerbahce. After he graduated from university he traveled to the United Kingdom and worked there for seven years. He has contributed columns to cimbom.org from Britain. He is currently working for a private firm in Istanbul. His greatest goal in his life is to be president of Fenerbahce one day.

Roxanne Yurchak was born in New York in 1971.  She grew up in Izmir and graduated from Izmir Ozel Turk Lisesi.  Roxanne then moved to Istanbul and enrolled in the Istanbul University's Department of International Relations. After graduation, her desire to work in the music industry led Roxanne down a different career path.  After working at Energy FM and Power FM, Roxanne is currently head DJ as well as  Director of Music Operations for Istanbul's popular Radio2019.  Because Radio 2019 is one of the sponsors of the Galatasaray basketball team, Roxanne has inside knowledge of the Galatasaray club. Ms. Yurtcak is currently engaged and plans to be married this winter. The cimbom.org family congratulates her and wishes her the best.
